Sr. Alma
Gallagher, Spiritual Director

In the working
world, many professionals routinely seek to add to their
on-the-job experience by studying aspects of their chosen field.
Catholics also benefit by seeking out sources of learning that help
them achieve a mature understanding of their faith and how to live
it.
St. Andrew’s is
blessed with a Spiritual Life Office whose goal is to foster such
growth. Many programs hosted by the Spiritual Life office
strive to open the way to contemplation, meditation and spiritual
renewal. Guest speakers expand parishioners’ knowledge; trips
and other events help parishioners share experiences with each
other.
Events encompass
diverse approaches to spirituality. Past programs have ranged from
speakers about the rosary to a drumming workshop.
RCIA
(Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults)
For
those exploring the Catholic faith for the first time.
Our program
serves individuals who would like to explore becoming a
member of the Catholic Church. The process begins with an
inquiry session that allows candidates to explore how the program
can serve their needs. Typically, inquiry sessions are held at
various times during the summer. Candidates that choose to
continue, then participate in informal instruction that runs from
September to Easter.
ANNUAL PARISH MISSION
Each year the parish
hosts a guest who leads our parish in events and activities with the
goal of refreshing parishioners’ spirits over a period of a few
days.
ANNUAL CORNERSTONE RETREATS
Parishioners plan an
in-parish retreat for fellow parishioners that provides a
concentrated atmosphere for renewing relationships with God and
enhancing relationships with the parish community. Men and
women hold separate retreats.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Watch the bulletin
and your mailbox for announcements of specially planned evenings of
reflection, days of renewal, a variety of small group faith sharing
sessions, Advent and Lenten prayer evenings, trips to religious
sites, guest speakers providing adult education, scripturally-themed
events and use of the labyrinth.
NEW LIFE/BEREAVEMENT GROUP
New Life is an ongoing
support/educational experience for adults who have lost a loved one.
It meets weekly for eight consecutive Mondays three times a year.
MOPS
Mothers of Preschoolers
is a support group to nurture mothers of preschoolers. At
twice-monthly meetings on Tuesday mornings, participants enjoy guest
speakers, prayer and crafts. Babysitting is provided.
12 STEP PROGRAMS
St. Andrew's is the host of
several twelve-step groups
that meet regularly at our parish.
