Sacrament of Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on the
first Sunday of the month at the 11:30 a.m. Mass and on the third
Sunday of each month at 1:00 pm. St. Andrew's does not
celebrate Baptism during Advent or Lenten seasons. All first
time parents must enroll in a night Baptismal Preparation Class
(last Tuesday of each month except December) prior to scheduling a
Baptism and must be registered in the parish. A child’s
godparents are ideally both Catholic, but the church will allow one
non-Catholic godparent if the individual is Christian.
Sacrament of Eucharist
Children who are not in Catholic school typically prepare for
their First Eucharist celebrations in their religious education
classes in first and second grade. They receive their First Eucharist
in the spring of second grade, during Sunday Mass.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
Priests are regularly available on Saturdays from 4:00 to
4:30 p.m. in the chapel. Special congregational celebrations of the
Sacrament of Reconciliation are also held during Lent and
Advent. Parishioners are encouraged to take advantage of the
availability of this sacrament at least once a month. (The
Church’s minimum requirement is once a year. If guilty of serious
sin you should avail yourself of the sacrament as soon as possible.)
Sacrament of Confirmation
Children in the religious education program typically receive
confirmation during sixth grade. Adults joining the church
are typically confirmed at the Easter Vigil Mass, after preparation
through the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) program.
Sacrament of Marriage
St. Andrew the Apostle rejoices
with a couple desiring to wed in our parish church. All
wedding dates are scheduled by the couple and priest at a meeting
which should be held approximately one year in advance.
Weddings are celebrated on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m., noon and 2:30
p.m. Couples will participate in a communication tool called FOCCUS
as well as the Diocese of Camden Pre-Cana program. To schedule
an appointment with a priest for marriage preparation, please call
the parish office (856-784-3878).
Anointing of the Sick
The Church teaches that the Anointing of the Sick increases
the divine life in an ill person, sometimes restores health, gives
the graces needed to accept the illness, forgives sin, and removes
the temporal punishment due to sin.
Anyone seriously ill due to sickness or old age
may receive this sacrament, even if not in immediate danger of
dying. A person undergoing surgery because of a dangerous illness
may be anointed. Contact the parish to arrange for a family member
(or yourself) to receive this sacrament.
