Loretta Stech, Pastoral Care Minister
Legion of Mary
We pray the rosary every weekday morning in the chapel.
Every Monday, we pray the rosary during our Legion of Mary Meeting
in the nursery at 9:00 AM. All are welcome to join us and see
what the Legion of Mary is all about. It is the largest
Catholic organization of apostolic lay people in the world.
Members offer their services to their pastor to aid him in
performing spiritual works for the parish. Anyone interested
in joining is welcome to attend.
Morning Prayer
Morning prayer is said every weekday at 8:15 a.m. before Mass.
This Liturgy of the Hours of Divine Office is principally a prayer
of praise and petition. In fact, it is the prayer of the
Church with Christ and to Christ. You are welcome to come and
join us in sanctifying your day by praying the Psalms and Canticles
with us each morning. We have books available for your use
during Morning Prayer.
Rosary Group
We pray the rosary at 9:00 every Monday thru Saturday morning in the chapel.
Recently, we began saying the Scriptural Rosary which includes a short
reading of a related Biblical passage after each Hail Mary.
The words direct the imagination and the mind towards a particular
episode or moment in the life of Christ. No other words can
ever match the efficacy of the Inspired Word. As we listen, we
are certain that this is the Word of God, spoken for today and spoken
"for me." Come join us whenever you are able and experience
this path of contemplation and make a daily connection with your
Christian Life through praying the rosary and understanding the
richness of its symbolism.
Nursing Home/Assisted Living Visits
St. Andrew's strives to hold one Mass, one weekday
per week at each of the area nursing homes or assisted living
facilities. These include Brendenwood, Genesis Eldercare, Kressonview, Lakewood,
Summerville and New Seasons. At Genesis, Kressonview and
Lakewood, extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist also bring
Eucharist to the rooms of those Catholics unable to join in the
celebration of the Mass. [This schedule is sometimes
interrupted when priests and/or Extraordianry Ministers of the
Eucharist are not available due to illness or coinciding daytime
obligations.]
Volunteers to participate in readings, singing and
assisting residents during the Masses are always welcome. Call
the church office for current information, specific times and
locations.
To verify that arrangements have been made for a
friend or family member to be taken to these Masses, visited by
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, or given the Sacrament of
Anointing of the Sick, please check with the Recreation Department
of the facility or call the parish office. To arrange a
special visit from a priest or a time set aside for confession,
contact the parish office directly.
Parish Nursing
The Parish Nurse is a registered nurse who provides holistic
nursing services to members of the parish to
achieve and maintain optimal mental, physical and spiritual health.
She/he understands that spiritual health is central to one's
well-being and therefore promotes the integration of mind, body and
spirit. For more information please call the Pastoral Care
Minister.
Prayers for the Sick,
Deceased, Expecting and Military
Our sick and deceased are remembered at each Mass through the
General Intercessions. Please place the names of your loved
ones in need of prayer in our Book of Prayer in the atrium of the
church.
Please call
the parish office
Funeral Masses
When the need arises, we will assist any of our
families with the planning and celebration of a Funeral Mass.
Arrangements can be made with the Pastoral Care Minister by calling
856-784-3878 extension 21. Should the office be closed, please
call the emergency number 856-435-7411. Through the thoughtful
selection of readings and music, a family may find solace at at time
of grief. Following the Funeral Celebration, we encourage
loved ones to participate in our Bereavement Group under the
Spiritual Life Ministry.
Communion Calls
If you are elderly or homebound due to illness and cannot make it to
Mass and would like to have a Eucharistic Minister or a priest visit
to bring you the Blessed Sacrament either weekly or monthly, just
call the Parish Office and we will set it up for you. This is
a very special part of our Parish Life and we want to make it
possible for everyone to receive Holy Communion as often as
possible, so please call the Pastoral Care Minister or the Parish Office.
Hospitals
A priest of the diocese typically takes Eucharist to local hospitals
every day visiting patients who identified themselves as Catholics
to the hospital staff during the admissions process. If there
is someone you would like to make sure is not overlooked, contact
the pastoral care minister at St. Andrew's.
